At the Beijing International Automotive exhibition, Citroën presented its most eco-friendly technologies, thus accompanying China in its efforts in favour of the environment.
The theme of the 2010 Beijing International Automotive exhibition, which ended on May 2nd, was “Imagining the green future”. China is more and more concerned with environmental issues and has set itself the goal to sell 10 to 15 % “green cars”, covering all technologies, by 2020.
China is the worldwide leader of the automotive market, ahead of the United States. Citroën, which enjoys very good presence there, presented its least CO2 emitting models in Beijing. No less than three concept cars and one demonstrator were displayed, featuring the whole range of green technologies destined to become standard on production vehicles.
The French public discovered the Stop&Start system, an example of soft hybrid technology, on the Citroen 4 notchback at C_42, Citroën’s international flagship showroom on the Champs Elysées in Paris. Metropolis, a limousine created by Citroën’s design team in Shanghai, is equipped with a hybrid- petrol traction chain, exactly like the C4 WRC HYbrid4. The DS HIGH RIDER offers a hybrid-diesel traction chain. As for the REVOLTE, it represents a third technological route, that of rechargeable hybrid vehicles.
On Citroën’s stand in Beijing, the green driving simulator Eco-Driving introduced the Chinese public to the behaviour principles that help consume less fuel and thus emit less CO2. Moreover, Citroën committed to support the reforestation of the Qinghai Province (west-central China) with the China Green Foundation.
The brand is set to reduce its CO2 emissions in China by 50% before end 2010.
